There are probably issues of respect to an extent, but you have to accept that there are a lot of people in the world who are just cruel-minded or utterly self-serving. I say be heavy-handed, because an increasingly light-handed approach has done nothing for the good of society, and the youth is certanly becoming more antisocial, violent and criminalised.
