how do you define independance

"...people with disabilities usually define the 'independence' they are seeking as:

First, not living in an institution;

second, not being dependant on the good will of family members to meet basic needs;

third, Being able to make all the most important decisions about your daily life and knowing that they will be carried out;

fourth, being able to do meaningful work [if possible], preferably for an income sufficient to be self-supporting and to buy necessary services."

That sounds like independence to me.
